SUMMIT, NJ  Celebrate the arrival of spring and kick off your gardening season at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum Spring Plant Sale, held each year on Mother’s Day weekend. Whether you’re a green thumb or just getting started, the Arboretum Plant Sale offers something for everyone—from unique and rare finds to reliable garden staples.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Arboretum’s historic grounds in Summit, the event invites visitors to explore a wide variety of plants, including Arboretum-grown and locally sourced New Jersey perennials. Selections include native species, deer-resistant varieties, pollinator-friendly favorites, and even tropicals to brighten up your garden space.

Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend to offer expert advice and help you find the perfect additions for your home garden.

“This event is a wonderful way for the community to connect with nature, get inspired for the growing season, and support the Arboretum’s mission,” says Julieanne Frascinella, Deputy Director of Horticulture. “We’re always excited to help visitors discover new plant varieties and learn more about sustainable gardening practices.”

Free guided tours of the Arboretum’s blooming spring gardens are also offered during the sale, adding to the experience and making it a great day out for the whole family.
