REEVES-REED ARBORETUM RECEIVES $24,999 QUALITY OF LIFE GRANT FROM THE CHRISTOPHER AND DANA REEVE FOUNDATION FOR “A PATH FOR ALL”

SUMMIT, NJ – (MARCH 25, 2025) Reeves-Reed Arboretum is proud to announce that it has been awarded $24,999 as part of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) 2024 Direct Effect 2nd Cycle Quality of Life grants. Fifty-three grants totaling $1,056,391 were awarded. The Quality of Life Grants Program supports non-profit organizations that empower individuals living with paralysis. Since the Quality of Life Grants Program’s inception, more than 3,990 grants totaling $46 million have been awarded. Funding for this program was made possible through a cooperative agreement with the Administration for Community Living (ACL grant #90PRRC0006-04).
The Reeve Foundation’s National Paralysis Resource Center has several grants under the Quality of Life program awarding grants in different category areas varying in amounts. The Priority Impact grants program funds organizations supporting a wide range of projects and activities that will benefit individuals living with paralysis and their families.
“These awards are about restoring independence to our constituents,” said Dan McNeal, Director of the Quality of Life Grants Program, Reeve Foundation. “Our work and number one goal are to enhance the quality of life of people living with paralysis. It is our honor to continue to collaborate with so many dedicated organizations, which have selflessly given their time and efforts to ensure that accessibility and inclusivity remain embedded in the fabric of their programs.”
Reeves-Reed Arboretum will use the grant to launch A Path for All, an initiative dedicated to improving accessibility across its historic gardens and grounds. The project features a continuous, ADA compliant pathway loop, a new outdoor patio and educational space, and expanded accessible parking. Designed for inclusivity, it will enhance navigation for wheelchair users, families with strollers, and individuals with mobility, visual, auditory, or neurodivergent challenges, including autism and ADHD.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for their generous grant, which will help us enhance accessibility at Reeves-Reed Arboretum. This support ensures that all visitors, regardless of mobility challenges, can fully experience the beauty and serenity of nature. This project aligns with our commitment to inclusivity, and we are excited to create a more welcoming environment for everyone in our community,” shared Executive Director of Reeves-Reed Arboretum, Jackie Kondel.
