Goats, Ghouls, and Games at CELEBRATE FALL
Sunday, October 21, 11 am to 4 pm
165 Hobart Avenue
Summit, NJ 07901
Summit, NJ Celebrate the bounty of Fall – golden autumn colors, crisp weather, yummy harvest fare – with family and friends, and of course, goats at Reeves-Reed Arboretum's eagerly anticipated annual fall festival, CELEBRATE FALL, Sunday, October 21, from 11 am to 4 pm.
The overarching theme for CELEBRATE FALL this year will be the eagerly anticipated return of our goats. Thanks to our friends, Larry and Anne Cihanek from Rhinebeck, NY, our 'green goats' will once again be on hand to clear the Arboretum's historic Daffodil Bowl, as well as provide comic relief with their antics and gentle good-natured frolicking. "Send a Kid to the Arboretum" by sponsoring your very own green goat and receive a Genuine Certificate of Good Goatsmanship! Check our website for details.
Along with a visit to the goats, the day's fantastic festivities and happy harvest happenings will also include games and crafts, face painting, a spooky trail, apple cidering, seasonal cooking demonstrations (with RRA Environmental Educator, Althea Llewellyn), and food trucks. Our featured musical group will be The Bard, an innovative band that transforms Elizabethan music into Rock & Roll. Check out RRA's Director of Horticulture, Marc Montefusco, on stage, weavin' and wailin'. And longtime Arboretum friend, photographer Bruce Lorenz, will be on hand to capture the day's fun and activities for all.
Admission to CELEBRATE FALL is FREE to Reeves-Reed Arboretum members (thanks to ongoing support from Investors Bank). Non-members, $10 per person/ $25 per family, children under 3 free.
CELEBRATE FALL is sponsored, in part, thanks to support from Hall's Garden Center, Nexgen Sources, Iannella Landscape & Paving, Kings Food Markets, and Reliable Office Solutions with Ella Krishtal. For more information or to sponsor a goat ("Send a Kid to the Arboretum"), please check our website, www.reeves-reedarboretum.org or call Jackie Kondel, Director of Education, at 908-273-8787 x 1515.
Celebrating almost 45 years as an historic public garden, education resource, and non-profit conservancy, Reeves-Reed Arboretum engages, educates and enriches the public through horticulture and environmental education, and the care and utilization of the gardens and estate. Open 7 days a week, the Arboretum is listed on both the National and New Jersey State Historic Registers. Funding for RRA has been made possible in part by the NJ Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, Dept. of Parks & Community Renewal.
