Annual Maple Sugaring Fest 2020

HOW SWEET IT IS!
Annual Maple Sugaring Fest

Sunday, March 1st, 1pm to 4pm

Reeves-Reed Arboretum
165 Hobart Avenue
Summit, NJ 07901

Summit, NJ Just a sweet reminder that as the cold winter months slowly slip away and the forest floor comes to life, maple syrup season is truly one of the first signs of spring. What better way to celebrate the coming of spring than with some family fun at Reeves-Reed Arboretum's annual Maple Sugaring Fest, Sunday, March 1, from 1 to 4 pm (snow date, Sunday, March 8).

Enjoy a brisk winter afternoon outdoors at the Arboretum learning the steps involved in turning tree sap into delicious maple syrup. There will be tapping and cooking demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, games, and taste tests, all at this annually anticipated, family-friendly interactive festival. RRA's Director of Education, Jackie Kondel, along with Environmental Educators Althea Llewellyn, Marilyn Kelly, and Linda Price, head up the team of RRA staff and volunteers to start the fires going and to heat up the hot cocoa. The Arboretum welcomes back Maple Magic, as the featured vendor, with their delicious maple cotton candy. And don't forget, this is an outdoor event, so wear boots and dress for the weather.

Of special note, the festival will coincide with the opening of the first exhibit of the season in the Wisner House Gallery, COLOR – FLORA – FUSION, featuring the watercolor, ink and fabric collage works of Lucinda Knaus.

Thanks to underwriting by our partners at Investors Savings Bank, the Arboretum's annual Maple Sugaring Fest is free to all RRA members. The admission for nonmembers is $5 per person or $20 per family. Not a member? Now's the sweet time to sign up and join the fun! For more information about our Maple Sugar Fest and other events and workshops at Reeves-Reed Arboretum, please visit our website at www.reeves-reedarboretum.org or call 908-273-8787 x 1010.
