Learn more »Nature’s Tapestry Improvisational Quilts by Carolyn McKibbin
Reeves-Reed Arboretum is pleased to announce our latest art exhibition, Nature’s Tapestry—a vibrant collection of improvisational quilts by local artist Carolyn McKibbin. In addition to wall-hung works, the exhibition features functional quilted pieces, including wearables, pillows, and clothing.
McKibbin’s quilts capture the beauty of nature through organic forms, earthy textures, and seasonal hues. From abstract patterns to botanical inspirations, Nature’s Tapestry reimagines traditional quilting as a celebration of the garden. Many of the works are created using repurposed and reclaimed materials, showcasing the sustainable potential of quilting as an art form.
About the Artist
Carolyn McKibbin is an improv quilter and Summit resident. A former member of the Summit Garden Club and a seasonal gardener at Reeves-Reed Arboretum, her own garden was featured on the Spring 2024 Summit Garden Tour. Organic shapes and bold colors are signature elements in both her quilts and her gardens. In 2023, her fine art quilt Mojo was selected to compete at QuiltCon in Atlanta—the world’s premier modern quilt show.
