Annual Appeal Letter

Dear Friends,

As we reflect on this past year, and mark the end of our 50th anniversary celebration, I am once again reminded of what a truly magical place the Arboretum is. We are so fortunate that our founders had the vision to preserve this special space as a public garden. For five decades, the Arboretum has remained open and free to the public, offering a sanctuary where people come to connect with nature and each other.

Time and time again, I meet people on our grounds who tell me just how important the Arboretum is to them. Whether it’s a family taking a peaceful walk, friends meeting in the gardens, or someone simply enjoying the quiet beauty of nature, the Arboretum is a gift to our entire community. I recently had the pleasure of meeting a young woman who just moved back to the area from having lived out West for several years.  She was so excited to be exploring the gardens and told me how her mother used to bring her all the time when she was younger and that she couldn’t wait to come for a visit once she was settled.  She described the Arboretum as her “happy place.” It is a place where children fall in love with nature, inspiring them to become the next generation of environmental leaders and champions.

As we look forward to the next 50 years, imagine a future where the Arboretum is a leader in sustainable practices and a source of endless learning and inspiration, where our woodlands are ecologically balanced and our gardens accessible to all. Think of all the countless memories that will be created here as your children and grandchildren, neighbors and friends continue to explore and cherish this natural gem.

This vision, however, cannot be realized without your help. Since we receive no funding from the city or state, your year-end gift is vitally important and provides the financial support we need to remain open for all to enjoy.  Please consider making a tax-deductible gift today.

With deepest gratitude,
