Goats are the G.O.A.T.
We don’t usually start talking about goats around here at the Arboretum until the fall. We look forward to our furry friends from Green-Goats Farm in Rhinebeck, NY returning year after year, to help us clear the overgrowth in the daffodil bowl. But I think about goats year-round! No, really! Come take a hike with me on the woodland trails here at Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Our lush Welcome Walk, colorful Historic Gardens, blossoming Daffodil Bowl, and tranquil, flowing fishpond are certainly the jewels of the Arboretum. But as with any jewel, its setting can be just as beautiful! Here at the Arboretum, our prized gardens are surrounded by over 6 acres of natural woodland habitat. There’s always something new and interesting to discover in the woods.
Oh the Things We Learned!
Lots of learning took place in the children's Square Foot Garden.
Our 2021 gardening season began in february while it was still cold outside. Like seasoned gardeners the children planned their gardens on paper, neatly tucking in their favorite vegetables and flowers in square foot plots.
Next we ventured oudoors to build our 1' x1' square foot garden boxes. We discussed how many plants can grow in a square foot. The magic numbers are 1,4,9 and 16. If you plant a tomato, pepper ...
