Several years ago a wonderful teenager came into our lives at the Arboretum, volunteering on Saturdays with me.
In the few years of volunteering she formed bonds with other high schoolers from completely different schools and it has been amazing to watch their friendships form and grow.
This past spring she spoke at our fundraiser, ART in the Garden. I will quote her here:
We don’t usually start talking about goats around here at the Arboretum until the fall. We look forward to our furry friends from Green-Goats Farm in Rhinebeck, NY returning year after year, to help us clear the overgrowth in the daffodil bowl. But I think about goats year-round! On the first of September of 2014, Marc Montefusco was hired as the Director of Horticulture at Reeves-Reed Arboretum.
