Today was the last day of a nine week, summer gardening series for children, called "Let's Get Growing!".
As I watched the children proudly gather their harvest of eggplants, chives, cucumbers and flowers, and race off to meet their parents, I heard shouts of "See you in the fall!". August is upon us and with it brings not only the hum of Dog Day Cicadas (Tibicen canicularis), but fabulous summer flowers and the bugs who love them. The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) has kindly allowed me to use it as a model in many of the following shots.
