Past Letters from the Director

New Staff Members

Dear Friends,

As so many of you know, the success and the reputation of Reeves-Reed Arboretum are inextricably linked to the passionate and committed staff members who create and administer the programs, lovingly work the grounds, raise funds, and care for this community treasure in a way that belies any standard of just punching a clock. To that end, I am happy and proud to announce two new additions to our team: Dave Snyder, our Grants Writer, and Tom Tagariello, our Manager of Special Events.

Dave's story is an interesting one. Just before I posted the grants position online, I received a LinkedIn message from him where he mentioned having been married on the grounds a number of years ago, and that he had been following our progress over the years with great admiration. As I started to respond to Dave's message, I saw that his profile identified him as a "funding stream facilitator" (read: grants writer). I encouraged him to apply for the position, interviewed him, and as they say, the rest is history. Dave is a highly experienced, insightful communicator with a proven track record of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding grants and projects from foundations, corporations and government sources. He is by nature a collaborator, and as such, a perfect fit here at the Arboretum.

Tom TagarielloThe Manager of Special Events is an all-encompassing position that not only requires great attention to detail, but finesse and extraordinary entrepreneurial and people-skills. Tom Tagariello brings those attributes, as well as years of professional experience, in both the for-profit as well as nonprofit worlds, to the role of Manager of Special Events at Reeves-Reed Arboretum. Of particular note is his background in marketing and special events at Jekyll Island (a nonprofit land conservancy off the coast of Georgia). Tom's skills and experience allow him to deftly navigate the marketing, event planning, and premises rental programs for Reeves-Reed Arboretum.

The continued growth, expanded outreach, and the realization of the future vision of the Arboretum are a direct reflection of the quality of staff, trustees, and constituents associated with RRA. On behalf of all of us here at RRA, please join in welcoming Dave Snyder and Tom Tagariello.

Where you treasure life, so is your heart.

For all of us here at Reeves-Reed Arboretum, our hearts are filled with the burgeoning life before us. Evidence of spring (i.e. our ubiquitous daffodils) greets us every day, and with that, promises of what's in store over the next months.

To that end, our staff is eagerly preparing for events like the next Put the 'Pub' in Public Garden wine tasting (April 7, wines from Bordeaux), Daffodil Day (April 23), ART in the Garden (June 10) and various workshops, trips, camps, concerts, and evening strolls.

As we come out of our cocoons of winter and shake off the slumber of hibernation, the call to action for all of us is to connect to your community! Reeves-Reed Arboretum is your community. Open your hearts - come to the Arboretum - treasure life. We are eager to welcome you.

Cheers,
