When I turned the calendar page to December the other day, I already began to feel the stress of the holiday season. There are presents to buy, cards to write, decorations to hang. So much to do and so little time to get it all done.
When I start to feel overwhelmed by my to-do list, I head outside for a walk in the garden. This simple act clears my mind and brings into focus what is truly important during the holiday season; it’s not the presents, but being present. It’s making room in your schedule to spend time with family and friends or going out of your way to offer a helping hand. It’s finding ways to connect with your loved ones, creating memories that will outlast most things purchased in a store.
Our 2nd annual Festival of Trees event on December 12 is a perfect opportunity for your family and friends to be out in nature enjoying a little holiday cheer. With nearly 30 trees decorated by families, scout groups, local businesses and not for profits, along with stories, vendors, food and music, this event should not be missed. Perhaps it will become an annual tradition that your family and friends look forward to each year.
I wish you and your family the happiest of holidays.
Until next time,
