Wild Ginger
Erythronium dens-canis

  Brownish purple

Flower Shape:
  Pitcher (for pouring)

Season of Bloom:
  Mid to late spring

Range:
  New Brunswick Canada to North
  Carolina and Missouri
   

Description of Plant:
  Wild ginger plants have leathery
  kidney-shaped leaves

Interesting Facts:
  It is named for its underground
  rhizomes, which are aromatic and
  smell somewhat spicy like ginger.
