Annual ART IN THE GARDEN Saturday, June 7 from 6 pm to 10 pm Reeves-Reed Arboretum is hosting its second annual ART IN THE GARDEN fundraiser on Saturday, June 7, from 6 pm to 10 pm. This cocktail reception and light buffet will celebrate the opening of the Arboretum’s summer art exhibit featuring artwork displayed throughout the Arboretum’s historic gardens and in the Wisner House. There will be a honey tasting, silent auction and a performance by the band Lenox Underground. As part of the evening’s events, the Arboretum will celebrate the return of a honeybee colony to the grounds. The bees are scheduled to return in April, and at least one of the artists’ works will be about bees and their relationship to man and contemporary society. Jenny Lynn McNutt will present “Precise Breathing,” an exciting multimedia installation in the Wisner House that will include bee related elements as well as an educational component. Other featured artists (including Peter Allen, Ursula Clark, Fritz Horstman, Anthony Krauss, Basha Ruth Nelson, Shelley Parriott, Karl Saliter, Elaine Allen Smith, and Alan Sonfist) will exhibit works on the grounds of the Arboretum that will comment on the beauty and structure of nature and man's interaction with nature. |
