Winter Art Exhibit in The Garden Gallery

Reeves-Reed Arboretum welcomes its second group of exhibitors to The Garden Gallery. The exhibit will open Thursday, January 14th and remain until March 13th. Featured artists for this exhibit include Susan Philips, Hoda A. Saleh and Jill Vondervor-Frank.

Susan Philips, a resident of Chatham, NJ has worked in many media including watercolor, oil, pastel, graphite and has done various forms of printmaking. She is an exhibiting member of the Essex Watercolor Club, the Millburn/Short Hills Art Center and the Livingston Arts Association. She has shown her work at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, the Morris County Library, Madison and Chatham Libraries, Overlook Hospital, Paper Mill Playhouse, the Community Theatre in Morristown and the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park. Her artwork has been the recipient of many awards.

Hoda Saleh creates handmade, one of a kind designer jewelry, made with semi-precious stones, water pearls, sterling silver and gold filled. Resizing and change in design can be made at the customer’s request. Ms. Saleh can customize jewelry to compliment bridal and mother of the bride apparel. Her work has been at art and juried shows at Peters Valley in Sussex County, the Shad Fest in Lambertville, Art at the Oval in Livingston and the NJ Visual Arts Center, both in Summit and E. Brunswick.

Jill Vondervor-Frank has studied oil painting, charcoal portraits, sculpture, pastels, acrylics and pen and ink. She has done numerous commissions of homes both in pen and ink and watercolor. Ms. Vondervor-Frank is the President of the Essex Watercolor Club, a board member of the Millburn/Short Hills Art Center, and an associate member of the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society. Her work has been displayed at numerous shows including the Walsh Library at Seton Hall University and the Pen & Brush in New York. She resides in Maplewood and Sussex, New Jersey.

Jeny McCullough has painted for many years and has thoroughly enjoyed expressing herself in a variety of media. She started with oils in the 1970s and then moved to watercolor as well, in the 1980s. She loves the movement of the color and water on paper, but enjoys the freedom of moving between media depending upon the mood of the setting.

Working as a faux and theater-set painter, she learned much about perspective and value by painting large spaces. Jeny is a member of many art clubs and enjoys painting with other artists. She says, “The learning of an artist never ends, but the greatest gift is the search to truly see and absorb our surroundings.”
